Morzine is a traditional town nestled in the valley between the Morzine Les Gets ski area and the rest of the Portes du Soleil ski area; one of the largest ski areas in the world. There is a variety of accommodation on offer, from week-long luxury chalet stays to short weekend trips in conveniently located apartments.
Morzine is just a short drive from Geneva airport, making it great for both short breaks and longer stays. With multiple areas to ski, and the expanse of the Portes du Soleil crossing into Switzerland, Morzine is ideal if you don't want to ski the same run twice.

Why we love Morzine
If you're looking for ample skiing (for all abilities) and access to a vibrant town, try Morzine. It's a year round destination, giving it a very welcoming feel.
From winter to summer, there is always something going on. With influence from around the world, there is a wicked selection of cuisine to try, which is unusual for a French resort. Asian fusion, vegan and veggie options are just some of the cuisines found among the traditional Savoyard restaurants.
If its location in one of the largest ski areas in the world isn't enough, there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy. Have you seen an ice hockey match before? The Pingouins de Morzine-Avoriaz are not to be missed. Or how about a snow mobile safari to get the adrenaline going.
Snowboarding in Morzine
Morzine, linked with Avoriaz (plus Chatel and Les Gets) not only has a huge ski area, 650km though not all of it is seamlessly connected. But some world-class fun parks, a huge halfpipe, an all nature, through the trees Stash Park that’s well worth checking out especially after snow fall and the whole atmosphere is of adrenaline junkies come winter or summer.
Morzine is such an adventure sports hub that there’s a buzzing community living here year round.
Après ski in Morzine
For a resort that hosts the raucous annual Rock the Pistes festival on the mountain you know the après going to be pretty good.
Robinson’s is the place in town or head for the heated terrace at La Marmotte D’Or for sunset drinks after a tough day on the slopes. They have regular live music so it’s well worth a stop.
Morzine lift passes
Morzine is part of the Franco-Swiss Portes du Soleil ski area with over 450km of skiing. So you do get a lot of KM for your money. There are several lift pass options available from December through to April. You can either get the full Portes du Soleil ski pass or there are local passes for Morzine-Les Gets or the Avoriaz area. If you can ski reds we'd always recommend the full area pass as you may find yourself limited on a local pass for a weeks skiing. Though for beginners, the local pass might be a more cost-effective option as you likely won't be exploring the wider area. In the Portes du Soleil children under 5 ski for free - though you still need to get them a lift pass. Hidden gems
Best bite
Go for goulash at Le Chaudron just below the Lindarets bowl in the ‘goats village’ perfect terrace for a lunch stop.
Best Piste
Head over to Champery if you have the full area pass. The slopes are much quieter and it’s really not that difficult to ski over to Switzerland.
Apres Ski
Avoid the Mutzig challenge at Bar Robinson with a beer best enjoyed in halves (5.5%). The challenge is 10 pints of the stuff. Which is utterly ridiculous.
