Les Gets is a relaxed and charming resort especially suited for family skiing. From an endless network of pistes, a modern lift system and world-class tree skiing to top-notch ski schools. It's a place that has skiing in its roots while managing to retain its traditional farming village charm and excels in showing off the local food and history, creating a magical feel to the place. Being part of the Portes du Soleil’s huge 650km of pistes means it has terrain for all abilities and even offers the chance to ski over into Switzerland - and the ski accommodation has a very affordable price tag.
Les Gets is a chilled out town that makes up one of the 12 resorts in the vast Portes du Soleil ski area. The resort sits at 1100 metres and there's more than enough local terrain to ski with 48 chairlifts accessing 120km of pistes, however, the option is there to explore the 650km of perfectly groomed pistes and 195 lifts that make up the rest of the Portes du Soleil.
Les Gets is chalet central, perfect for groups and families but due to the chalet nature there’s not a lot of action post dinner as people are tucked up with a glass of red beside the fire. But, if you’re looking for a lively atmosphere then you can always head to a mountain hut on the way down to town. Few sunset drinks and you might catch some live music. The sun terrace is great at the apply named L’Après Ski Bar by the tourist office.
As well as the vast ski area, Les Gets has quite the reputation for family activities or simply stuff to do when you’re not skiing. From the ice rink to the endless snowshoeing paths, cross country skiing tracks, a cinema, bowling alley and there’s even a leisure centre, pool and spa. You could go dog sledding or pick from the 60 odd restaurants in the town - perhaps too much choice.
Located just an hour from Geneva, it's a great resort for a quick getaway and caters for all abilities and age groups, while the village is easy to navigate thanks to the regular shuttle bus service (which is free).
Les Gets has a fantastic selection of self-catered apartments and chalets, providing a more affordable and flexible alternative to traditional hotels and the big-name resorts. These accommodations often feature fully-equipped kitchens, allowing you to prepare your own meals and enjoy the freedom to dine on your schedule. With a range of sizes and amenities such as hot tubs, balconies or even swimming pools available, you can easily find the perfect space for your needs and budget. Families and groups of friends will find fantastic value for larger properties compared with stays in the Three Valleys or Tignes-Val d'Isere, meaning you can get more of what you want; wraparound balconies, roaring fires and sprawling sofa areas galore. And still enjoy 650km of skiing.

Looking for something cheesy? Of course. Head to La Fruitière des Perrières where they make all their own cheese and dairy products on site. Fondue here we come! And it doesn’t get more local.
If you’re not too late in the season try Mont Chery (it’s south facing), the hidden mountain at the end of the area. Great after fresh snowfall, it’s quiet with fab views and better restaurants.
Whether you want to catch the football or just play a little darts, Bar Bush is your go to in Les Gets. And definitely your best bet for life after dark and if you love a quiz then don’t avoid Fridays.
