Where to stay in La Rosiere
La Rosiere isn't a single charming mountain village, it's actually two! Les Eucherts is the newer development, it's where most of the chalets are clustered. It's a scenic one-mile bus ride round the mountain but it's also easily walkable, connected by Narnia-esque forest trails.
Les Eucherts is different from your traditional mountain resort. It's been thoughtfully designed with ski in, ski out access for many chalets. Picture this: you step out your front door, strap on your skis, and voila! You're carving down the slopes. Plus, the "Croisette" ski front has a handful of restaurants, ski rentals and ski schools. Les Eucherts has a distinctly North American feel – think easy access and modern amenities. Basically, it's perfect for families looking for a hassle-free ski getaway where everything is right at your fingertips. Let the chalet hunt begin!
Family skiing in La Rosiere
Yes, there are fantastic beginner and progression pistes including the themed fun forest parks. But the thing that really sets La Rosiere apart, in terms of family skiing, is the non-ski side of things. From dog sledding to watching the ice hockey - activities that can enhance the family experience.
Local teams play ice hockey most weeks, and it's a great friendly experience. And the climbing wall is handy for burning off any extra post-ski energy. There's dog-sledding on offer or the resort organises free events each week from snowball fights to toasting marshmallows over fire-pits or even a free magic show.

Worth knowing
- Built at an altitude of 1850m it's one of the highest resort in France with a great snow record
- The combined ski area with La Thuille is called the Espace San Bernado and is full of beginner and intermediate cruising terrain (there's few seriously challenging slopes, another reason it's great for family skiing)
- You don't need a passport to cross the border to Italy but you will need some sturdy legs to conquer a couple of long button lifts
- Traditional style with attractive buildings and chalets dotted throughout the woods
- There isn't much of an apres ski scene in La Rosiere. There's a handful of restaurants, shops and bars but it's a more peaceful, admire the views chill by the fire sort of scene

Non-Ski
Try your luck on Snake Gliss (a chain of linked sledges). Or fly down the mountain on the X-treme Luge, a 700 m mountain coaster through the forest.
Italian Lunch
Head to La Thuile for lunch in Italy (it's cheaper on the Italian side) before coming back to France for dinner.
Crossing borders
La Rosière is linked with La Thuile in Italy by a ski slope, so you can easily ski across the border. Just look out for the long drag lifts that you'll need to take to get home.
